An important aspect of the SHPE NTCC is the Pre-College Symposia, which encourages Latino/a middle school and high school students to graduate from high school, go to college, and enroll in an engineering, math, science or technology discipline.

In January 2007, the AHETEMS Foundation will host two tracks at the 2007 SHPE NTCC. The Middle School Track will host 200 middle school students from Denver and surrounding areas.  The High School Track will host 800 high school students from both the out-of-state and Denver and surrounding areas.  These events will be held at the Grand Hyatt and the University of Colorado at Denver, Health and Sciences Service Centers.
