    Region II,

    My name is Fausto Carrera and I am your Regional Student Representative for the upcoming 2008-09 year. It is an extreme honor to be able and represent you! Region II is the region where SHPE began and is regarded as one of the strongest regions in all of SHPE. Both Ricardo Carlos (Regional Vice-President) and myself have high expectations as I'm sure you do for this upcoming year. I look forward to meeting and working with all of you, to not only meet but exceed our goals for the upcoming year! Please do not hesistate to contact me if there is anything I can help you with.

    AT&T Labs Fellowships

    AT&T Labs Fellowship Fellowships are available to outstanding under-represented minority and women students who are U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents and who are pursuing Ph.D. studies in computer and communications-related fields. If you really want to make a difference as a professional scientist, we can help you get started.

    The ALFP program awards a three-year fellowship and is contingent on an annual review demonstrating that the recipients are making satisfactory progress toward their PhD.

    Each fellowship recipient participates in a research summer internship during their first summer in the program.
    Systers™: Pass-It-On Grants Program
    The grants, funded by donations from the Systers community, are intended as means for women established in technological fields to support women seeking their place in the fields of technology.

    US Food and Drug Administration Opportunities!
    The US Food and Drug Admin. office is looking for engineers, biologists, chemists, etc. with at least 30 credit hrs in science, interested in a job as Consumer Safety Officers. The job deals with conducting investigations in manufacturing plants (foods, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics etc).

    Phoenix, AZ - Region II


    Early Registration Ends: Oct. 6th!


    The SHPE Conference is the major event for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Inc. and the largest technical and career conference for Hispanics in the country.

    Each year, the SHPE Conference attracts nearly 5,000 engineering professionals, students and corporate representatives. The conference is an opportunity for engineering companies and corporations to recruit top talent from SHPE membership. It also provides educational, technical and career opportunities for professional and student engineers.

    The 2008 SHPE Conference will take place at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona, November 12 – November 16, 2008.
