Chapter Leaders & Members:

I welcome all of you within the region.  As your Region III Student Representative I have seen Region III expanding with struggling chapters and new chapters growing.  I have also seen that even though we have multiplied in numbers, Region III still has the potential to grow even more.  It is going to relay on self motivation and the three D’s Desire, Dedication, and Discipline.      

Out of SHPE’s seven regions, region III is the largest geographically but yet it has the fewest chapters/memberships.  We are going to have to come together this year like we never have before in the past.  Even though we are so spread out does not mean we can not get together within our states.  The biggest thing that all Hispanics our about is family and with family we grow into the people we are today.   If we come together within our states and become a family then we will be unstoppable in everything we want to accomplish this year.   Chapter leaders make it a point to get all of the information out to the rest of the student members.  Members participate and take advantage of what is trying to be given to you. Not everybody is given the chance to be where you are right now please take advantage of the opportunities.  All it takes are leaders like you to bring motivation to our Hispanic community.

Therefore, it is vital to continue to strengthen our region and in time we will excel in areas such as membership and community outreach.  Then we can target areas that need improvement such as communication, academic and professional excellence. I am looking forward to working with each and every one of you to make this year a successful one.  I am here to represent you and your chapter, so please let me know how I can serve you.

In closing note I just want to say that I am excited about the ME conference in Chicago, IL this coming November, NTCC in Denver, CO in January 2007, and RLDC at Kansas state University in March of next year.  We have a great year ahead of us filled with fun activities and set goals.  Let us show everyone what Region III is made of by doing our job, which is to promote Hispanics in math, engineering, and science.
