Region V Student Leaders and Membership,

My name is Thania Balcazar and I am your Regional Student Representative for Region 5 for the 2009-2010 term.  I am from Fort Worth, Texas and I am a senior in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington. It is an honor to be serving and representing all of you because I know that each of you possess the qualities of a great leader.  Moreover, I know that you have the same passion as I do for SHPE or you would not have taken the position that you are in now.  As your RSR, I will proudly show off our talented population with poise, distinction, and professionalism.

I have proposed some goals for our region and need your help to reach each one of them.  My strategic plan will show you how it is possible to align my goals with your chapter goals and that with dedication, hard work, and great communication, we will have many accomplishments in the forthcoming school year.

I want to remind you that leaders do not command excellence, they build excellence.  Moreover, pursuing excellence should not be confused with accomplishing a job or task.  As I mentioned before, you possess the passion for this organization so I know that all of you will pursue excellence rather than just accomplish each objective that I have proposed.  I am very excited to work with all of you and please never hesitate to contact me for any reason.  Region 5, Let’s feel the vibe!

    Sincerely and respectfully,

    Thania Balcazar
